The airline, which began passenger flights from the Illawarra Regional Airport four months ago, has confirmed its current timetable will change within weeks and provide "better connectivity" with the Victorian and Queensland capitals.

From April 7, there will be a 50 per cent jump in the number of services between Brisbane and Wollongong; six return flights per week, up from the current timetable of four.

New flights will operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with a second daily service to be implemented on Fridays.

The changes mean flights between the Queensland capital and Wollongong will soon operate daily from Monday to Friday and every Sunday.

The times of some flights to and from both Brisbane and Melbourne will change under the new timetable, and one Wednesday afternoon service to the Victorian capital will cease.

Fly Corporate's sales manager Geoff Woodham said the loss of that flight would be offset by new afternoon flights between Wollongong and Melbourne on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The number of flights to and from the Victorian capital will increase from nine return services each week to 10, Mr Woodham said.

“What we’re doing is providing more capacity, more seats and we’re absolutely delighted that the uptake of our services out of the Albion Park area has increased significantly," he said.

Demand prompted the schedule rejig, Mr Woodham said.

"We knew that [starting in November] was going to be a tough gig to get the flights up to where we needed them to be, but that was reality," he said.

“The negotiations between ourselves and the [Shellharbour City] council were to implement flights as soon as possible, but starting off the new year we’re absolutely delighted and very, very pleased with the uptake."

Flights between Wollongong and Melbourne will operate each day of the week except Saturdays.

There are no flights to or from Brisbane on Saturdays.
