Gerringong took out the girls division, defeating Flinders 14-0, while Flinders claimed a 30-6 win over Kiama in the boys. The two winnings teams have progressed to next term's sub-regional qualifiers.
AFL development coordinator Stuart Haack labelled Tuesday's competition a big success, with the quality of competition on display reflecting the considerable talent that lies within the Illawarra region.
"All games were played in great spirit, the kids had lots of fun, enjoyed themselves," Haack said. "Feedback from teachers was that it was a wonderful day, well organised and well run.
"I've been doing this for 12 years and every year the standard keeps going higher and higher. The skills and understanding of the game is expanding every year."
