Dapto Citizens showed they’ll be a contender in top grade Southern Conference pennants with victories over Albion Park and Oak Flats on the opening weekend of the season.

Dapto Citizens began the new season with a 63-52 (9-1) home win over Albion Park last Friday night with skip Matt Miles and partners Peter McCauley, Adrian Jones and Rick Malley beating Aaron Spears’ 28-18 in the key rink.
Albion Park won more ends (34-29) but Citos took home a 9-1 victory.
The following day Dapto Citizens travelled to Oak Flats BC and posted a 71-60 (9-1) win, with Miles’ 34-15 win over Alan McDonald ensuring Citos made it two wins from two games.
The other three opening weekend matches were won by the visiting team.
Wiseman Park were the only side to win all three rinks in an impressive 72-46 (10-0) triumph over Figgy Bowlo. Shane Garvey skipped Wisos to a 31-16 win over Ryan Marmont.
Corrimal made an impressive start with a 64-48 (9-1) victory at Woonona and Towradgi beat Kiama 71-43 (9-1).
This weekend many clubs play a double header, while Merimbula play three matches and are away to Towradgi and Dapto Citizens on Saturday and then away to Wiseman Park on Sunday.
