Wollongong City Council has put out a tender to complete the works on the link that runs from the dead end at Porter Street, alongside International House and up to the Princes Highway near the southbound Memorial Drive on ramp.
"The objective of the proposed works is to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety between Porter Street and Princes Highway," the council tender document stated.
The proposed work would also include a shared pathway along the eastern side of Porter Street.
A report to council suggested the section from the Princes Highway was too steep for bicycles to use safely.
