New Rays coach Scott Chipperfield enjoyed a victory in his first match in charge on Wednesday night as Illawarra beat North Shore Mariners 3-1 at Seymour Shaw Park.
A double to star attacker Erica Halloway and a goal off the bench from Eden Stoddard provided the Rays with the perfect start to the season.
Koalas were similarly impressive in their round one clash last weekend in a 5-0 demolition of the Emerging Jets.
Emma Stanbury scored a brace in the win.
Koalas and the Stingrays met on the eve of the new season and shared a 1-1 draw in the match.
Sunday's match is the first of two away games for Illawarra before they return to JJ Kelly Park for a three game home stretch.
