Hall is the only Australian ever to compete in the Red Bull Air Race and has been runner-up three times. His Wings Over Illawarra appearance coincides with his eighth season competing in the Red Bull Air Race World Championships. In 2019 he is hoping to secure the title that so narrowly eluded him last year. He is presently in fifth place after the season opener in Abu Dhabi.
Hall said he was excited his schedule meant he could be a part of this year's airshow which he described as "such a great event that boasts such an incredible line-up of aircraft both in the sky and on the ground”.
Wings Over Illawarra organiser Kerry Bright said Hall's thrilling aerobatics and impressive flying skills continually enthralled audiences around the world. "We are honoured to have him on board once again this year as he is such a great crowd pleaser.”
Destination NSW chief executive Sandra Chipchase said Hall's attendance would provide another fantastic highlight to the already impressive lineup. "Spectators are always captivated by the electric atmosphere of the Wings Over Illawarra event".
"And to have Matt along will only build further excitement".
"Beyond the show, the Illawarra Region offers visitors a wide range of adrenaline-pumping activities, so I encourage everyone to make the most of their time in town”.
Wings Over Illawarra is the major annual air show in NSW, as well as being the only air show experience within easy reach of Sydney and Canberra.
