The council is calling for expressions of interest from people aged 12-25 who want to show off their talents by holding a stall or performing at the inaugural Youth Market.
The markets will be held during NSW Youth Week on April 17 from 4pm to 8pm at the Shellharbour Civic Centre.
The event is a great chance to hang out with mates during an evening of live music, food and unique market stalls.
Young people can develop their entrepreneurship skills, contribute to the local economy, whilst promoting sustainability and youth culture.
Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said the event would give the city’s young people a chance to earn some money and show off their talents and merchandise.
“The stalls can be used for something you want to sell or share with the broader community," she said. "It might be something you own, something you have made or something you would like to promote."
A stall deposit of $20 applies for those invited to attend. This deposit will be refunded on the day.
The Shellharbour City Youth Market forms part of the council’s work in line with the first ever Shellharbour Youth Plan, which was adopted by the council late last year.
The council will run a variety of Youth Week activities between April 10 and 18 to celebrate Shellharbour’s young people.
There are more than 11,700 people aged between 12 and 24 in Shellharbour City, making up 17 per cent of the total population.
