LEAVE WILDLIFE ALONE
On Sunday, March 10 I was visiting my parents in Wollongong. We were enjoying breakfast together overlooking the harbour.

To our delight, quite a large pod of dolphins appeared travelling North. What a treat to see the dolphins so close to the shore. However, within a few minutes our delight turned to disgust.
A group of jet skis, one by one (four in total), approach the pod at speed and surrounded it. The jet skis were within a metre of the dolphins strategically positioned around the pod. At that stage the pod had tried to change direction. We couldn't believe our eyes. What a disgrace!
Something needs to be done, to either educate these ignorant users of the harbour, or rules need to be put into place to ensure jet skis remain a certain distance from the shore and our local ocean wildlife remain un-hassled and protected. Jet skis are noisy, disruptive and pollute our precious environment. Better still, ban them completely!

PROCESS FOLLOWED
From the contribution 'Hard to believe' (Illawarra Mercury, Saturday, March 9) it would appear its author is among those stridently claiming convicted paedophile George Pell was denied "natural justice" (a right to be heard), due to decades of "adverse media coverage.
A big call by them considering that during the decades of alleged "adverse media coverage", Pell managed to continue his career path and to eventually become the Church of Rome's third most prominent official.
In order to accept George Pell was denied "natural justice", requires one to also accept the jury selection in the Pell case was defective. In trials requiring a jury, a preliminary examination of the jury pool by the trial judge and the legal counsel of the parties is undertaken.
This process results in the empanelling of most impartial members of that jury pool. A jury agreed upon by all parties to be capable of disseminating the evidence provided, and the arguments mounted by counsel for the claimant and the defendant then making a decision accordingly. To date, contrary to the claims of the "Pell was denied natural justice mob" there is no indication the jury in the George Pell matter failed to perform to those standards.

'HYSTERIA AND PROPAGANDA'
In reply to the opinion article by Dr Richard Yin 'Listen to the kids-we must act on climate' (Illawarra Mercury, Monday March 11, 2019) So all the usual climate hysteria and propaganda is trotted out to support school children going on strike for climate action.
But, if we stop coal mining then we cannot produce Ipads, mobile phones, solar panels and/or wind turbines because steel comes from coal and consider all the people out of work?
No doubt the Adani mine will be targetted. Yet, this mine will power new coal-fired generators in India and lift those people out of poverty. In addition, North Queensland has very high unemployment and the mine could employ 14,500 people which would help the local communitiea and businesses. How ridiculous, at a time when student literacy and numeracy is continuing to fall, we are indoctrinating children in left-wing climate activism.
