They can also explore and play in the museum grounds at Albion Park Rail.
The first Witches and Wizards event will be held on Saturday, March 23.
There will be two night-time train rides operating on Saturday. Seymour will haul the Witch and Wizards express into the night and Strathalbyn will haul the Mini Merlin Express into the night.
ILRMS member Brad Johns said the new event promised to be a lot of fun for young and old alike.
"You can dress up as your favourite witch or wizard maybe like Harry Potter and cast your magic around the museum grounds that could take you to that special place," he said.
"We have a great picnic ground with a great kids play area and there will also be face painting along with 'Scary oke Sing' along with Bill and you can explore the museum by night."
Food, drink and souvenirs will also be available to purchase.
Entry is $5 per person or $15 unlimited rides and entry for kids/concession. Unlimited rides and entry is $20 for adults and $70 for a family.
