The Koalas were in the box seat to hand Illawarra their first loss of the season in the second half after an own goal from star defender Caitlin Cooper and a tap in by Deborah-Anne De La Harpe had the hosts 2-0 in front.
But a late rally from the Rays would help them remain unbeaten.
Hannah Beard gave Illawarra hope when she scored in the 81st minute before veteran star Michelle Carney fired home her first goal of the campaign to ensure they'd take home a share of the spoils.
"It was good to see the girls fight to the end especially after the short turnaround from our win during the week," Stingrays coach Scott Chipperfield said.
"I thought we might end up getting more tired as the game went on but we actually got stronger towards the end. I was happy to get the draw in the end."
Illawarra play Macarthur next weekend.
