Many parts of the Illawarra were drenched by heavy rain on Monday night, with roads flooded, train lines cut and some areas left without power.

The State Emergency Service also undertook several flood rescues.
Consistently heavy rain fell across Wollongong's southern and western suburbs.
Last night, the SES's Wollongong City Unit says the intense rain has led to flash flooding in Unanderra, Cringila, Springhill and Port Kembla.
On Tuesday morning, Neil Wiblin, SES co-ordinator duty operations said suburbs like Cringila, Unanderra and Figtree were the hardest hit by the rain.
He said they had 37 jobs in the region overnight, including four flood rescues.
The flood rescues included two at Five Islands Road, as well as others on the Princes Highway, Unanderra and Hurt Parade, Unanderra.
"All involved vehicles in rising flood waters with the occupants trapped," he said.
He said no one was injured as a result of these rescues.
"During the wild weather over the weekend, we were doing flood rescues and they all involved people attempting to drive across flooded roadways," Mr Wiblin said.
"The message we'd like to get across is, if it's flooded, forget it."
Mr Wiblin said the other jobs overnight largely related to leaking and damaged roofs due to the heavy rain, and localised flooding.
According to Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Zhi-Weng Chua, a low pressure system across the coast developed over the weekend, and moved south towards the Illawarra during Monday morning.
"It produced an unstable environment, and in combination with moist tropical air we did get a good amount of persistent rainfall," he said.
Mr Chua said from 9am Monday to 7am on Tuesday, Port Kembla recorded 66mm of rain, and Mount Kembla 113mm.
During the same period, Albion Park recorded 6mm, and Wollongong 13mm.
