Instigated in 2014 by the owners of Soul Fit Woonona, the event is aimed at encouraging physical activity in children while also raising money for their schools.
Alita Ashcroft said kids were at the heart of event.
"The idea came about after watching my little boy take part in a fun run for adults a few years ago and the look of joy and excitement on his face after he ran the whole way," she said.
"He had so much fun taking part in the event and it got me thinking, there is no event available just for kids to have fun and take part in a fun run just for children."
Participants aged between four and 14 are encouraged to take part in a 2km or 4km run along Bulli Beach, with the option of a 1km turn-around point.
The previous five Kids Run events have raised almost $8000 for local schools.
As in previous years, for every student that runs on March 24, $5 will be donated back to their school and every child will go into the draw to win $500 for their school.
Parents can also run with their children to encourage and assist them.
"I always walk away with a big smile on my face afterwards. It's always a fun day," said Mrs Ashcroft's business partner, Soul Fit owner Alex Blake.
Ms Blake added adults don't have to pay to enter and can still participate and run along with their kids and enjoy the day and have fun with them.
"But this is an event that is purely for kids," she said.
"We want families to be able to take part in an event that is fun and encourages fitness in a positive and family environment.
"Adding to this, $5 from every entry will be donated back to each participant's school or preschool."
Woonona Public School students got a practice run on Tuesday, where students of all ages did warm-up laps of the school oval.
