Motorists are advised to exercise caution as heavy traffic in the area eases.
Earlier: A two-vehicle crash involving a car and a truck has closed Appin Road in both directions between Bulli Tops and Appin.
Emergency services were alerted to the accident, about 9km southeast of Appin, by a triple-zero call at 10.50am.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said initial reports suggested the car sideswiped the truck.
The spokesman said an occupant of the car, a female believed to be aged in her 40s, was trapped in the vehicle for a short time.
The woman is being treated for a possible head injury and a rescue helicopter has been called to the scene.
Three ambulances have also responded.
Motorists have been advised to avoid the area and to use Picton Road instead.
More to come.
