Bobbing was set to be one of the leading contenders to win the Kembla qualifier after taking out the $150,000 Spring Provincial Series final at the Illawarra Turf Club last December.
Concerns over a heavy track have forced Kelly to re-evaluate his plans to bring his gelding back to Kembla.
"I am just trying to give him a trial and then it looks like it is going to be a wet track down there too, which concerns me a bit," Kelly said.
"With the track, I will just air on the side of caution because I am just half a run short."
"I am hoping to give him a trial and head to Wyong."
Despite still needing to qualify for the Provincial Championships, Bobbing is an $11 chance with the TAB to salute in the lucrative $500,000 final.
