The swimmers from 16 teams raised almost $40,000 at the March 16-17 event, boosting income over nine years of the Mega Swim to $350,000.
Funds are used to financially support sufferers of Multiple Sclerosis.
The Wollongong event is one of many held throughout Australia each year and is organised locally by the Figtree Lions Club.
Lions club organiser Bill Wright paid tribute to the teams from various sporting and community groups in the Illawarra, especially for their commitment to swim through sometimes heavy rain during the 24 continuous hours of the event.
"Team members consisted of swimmers from early teens into their 70s," Mr Wright said. "Many of them come back year after year.
"We also thank members of the public who generously donated or sponsored swimmers."
