On Tuesday chief executive Rob Ryan welcomed the latest intake of trainees at an induction in Fairy Meadow.
Mr Ryan said since introducing the traineeship program in 2005, 130 young people have been employed through the program. And that commitment will continue.
History shows 97 per cent of the new recruits complete the year-long training. And 93 per cent continue on in full-time roles within IMB's growing network of 48 branches in the Illawarra, Sydney, South Coast, the ACT and Melbourne.
Mr Ryan said even more opportunities will be created the opening of the new national headquarters in Burelli St, Wollongong.
"We will clearly digitalise and expand the business in NSW and interstate and that will create opportunities for further growth in employment here in Wollongong," he said.
"We love the enthusiasm of the young people who come in and contribute. In the future we will expand our trainee intake to other disciplines".
Kara Mitchell, 18, of Kiama finished high school in 2018 and applied for a traineeship at IMB Bank because she thought it was an employer of choice that will provide her with a qualification and great experience.
After this week's induction she will be located at head office where she will work in fraud.
