The body is yet to be formally identified, though it is believed to be that of a 52-year-old man, who was last seen leaving a Woonona in a blue sedan last Thursday.
The sedan was located by police officers on a trail at the entrance of the Dharawal National Park around 8:10am on Tuesday.
Officers from Campbelltown and Lake Illawarra Police District, the Dog Unit, PolAir, Police Rescue and the State Emergency Service then conducted a search of the area.
Just after 2pm on Wednesday a body was discovered in the National Park.
Although the investigation is ongoing, initial inquiries suggest the circumstances surrounding the death are not suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
Police would like to thank members of the public and media for their assistance.
