After being developed in the United States Beyond Meat is starting to appear in Australian supermarkets and on Wednesday Grill'd Healthy Burgers became the first national hamburger chain to introduce plant based Beyond Meat hamburgers to its menu.
The four new burgers each include patty that is soy free, gluten free and GMO free.
And while Grill'd Wollongong expects Beyond Meat will appeal to those who prefer to eat vegan. They are also being pitched to meat lovers who want to try someone different.
It is another option now even for people who regularly eat meat but want to try something else that still actually tastes like meat
- Allen Markovski
Allen Markovski said the four new burgers add to the range available for vegans and vegetarians.
"It is another option now even for people who regularly eat meat but want to try something else that still actually tastes like meat. The customers who have come in and tried Beyond Meat love it. The vegan customers who have come in and tried it said it is amazing and really enjoyed it"
Similarly customers who usually eat meat have also given it the thumbs up.
"The Beyond Simply, the Beyond Garden Goodness and the Beyond Crispy Bacon and Cheese are based on our normal beef menu but without real meat," Mr Markovski said.
