Liberal, Labor and Greens candidates and MPs have made funding commitments and promises to improve the region.
Here's what they have to offer.
Transport and infrastructure
A Liberal government has committed to fund the first stage of the F6 extension as well as $2.4 billion to upgrade the Princes Highway including the Albion Park Rail bypass.
Liberals' public transport plan includes services every 15 minutes in the peak times from Wollongong Train Station and 5000 extra seats across peak services as part of an expanded roll out of the New Intercity Fleet.
Labor would invest $100 million to upgrade Appin Road to make it safer.
The party would cancel the F6 extension and would focus on rail before toll roads including $2.7 billion for work on the rail line between Sydney and Wollongong as well as more commuter parking at Helensburgh train station.
Labor has also made funding commitments to the Albion Park Rail bypass and Princes Highway upgrade.
Both governments would commit to fund the installation of lifts at Unanderra train station.
In addition, Labor has pledged $5 million to upgrade Mount Keira Summit Park and another $5 million to build an iMake Maker Space to support new business ideas.
A Labor government would also relocate the Liquor and Gaming state department to Wollongong and would make a $50 million investment into the upgrade of the WIN Entertainment Centre.
The Greens party has committed to a coal transition fund and a feasibility study for transport connections at West Dapto.
Health
Both major parties will spend $251 million for the Shellharbour Hospital redevelopment, including $23 million for the car park, and $34 million for the Bulli Hospital redevelopment.
Liberals will add 440 health workers in the region.
Labor has committed $1 million for Shellharbour Hospital eating disorder treatment services, $5 million for maternity unit upgrade and $4.5 million for the children's ward at Wollongong Hospital.
Education
Only a Labor government would spend $60 million to build a new school in West Dapto.
Environment
A Greens government would phase out single-use plastics by 2023, pledged to phase out mining under water catchments over the next 10 years and want to see the state's power become 100 per cent renewable by 2030.
