Instead of heading to the Gold Coast, teens finishing their HSC this year can spend 12 days in Cambodia - a mix of volunteer work and exploring.
University student Sarah Young of Kiama is organising the trip through Challenges Abroad and will lead the team through community projects in Battambang. This will be her fourth time volunteering in the Asian nation.
"It's an opportunity to see a different part of the world and really immerse yourself in a culture in a different," she said.
"Being able to volunteer in a different country is such an eye opening and rewarding experience."
Participants will also spend "tourist time" in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh.
There are only 10 places available so it's "first in best dressed". Miss Young said there would be opportunities to fundraise for travel expenses.
