The long-distance running races take competitors along a scenic route up and down the Wollongong foreshore, however there was little time to enjoy the view for the elite racers.

Kembla Joggers president Neil Barnett was pleased with the turnout and said all competitors, both elite and fun runners, enjoyed their time on course.

"We had a flood of entries come through in the last few days," Barnett said. "So we had in excess of 400 runners which was great to see.

"The weather conditions were great which resulted in some fast running and it was a really good community event. We're hoping to have raised a few thousand dollars in the 10km race for the McGrath Foundation."

The five kilometre event was won by Sydney 18-year-old Lorcan Redmond, with Luke Bate and Kembla Joggers' James Seal close behind in second and third. The run marks Bate's arrival on the Wollongong athletics scene, with the 20-year-old recently moving from Western Australia to train in Brendan Sexton's triathlon squad.

Veteran runner Belinda Martin was the first of the women to cross the line, with Chloe Pateman and Trudi Barnes rounding out the podium.

The 10 kilometre run was won by local Myles Gough, with fellow Wollongong resident Jeff Chaseling in second. Jonathan Moore finished in third.

Sophie Bennett took out the women's 10km race, ahead of Matilda Offord and Claire Rayner.
