The latest success is securing the right to provide scaffolding services for painting and various projects on Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Crew and equipment will be provided from Wollongong where a team has been equipped with all the necessary clearances and training.
KJ Industrial Scaffolding is among a panel of three scaffolding providers for work on the iconic structure.
Securing the opportunity follows the business's successful work on a regional bridge program with the RMS over the last decade.
That started with the provision of scaffolding for bridge work on the Hume Hwy almost a decade ago.
More recently KJ Industrial Scaffolding has provided its services on the Berry Bypass and is doing more work on the Berry to Bomaderry Princes Hwy upgrade.
It has also secured defence industry contract in NSW and been working with NorthConnex and WestConnex projects, Sydney Metro and Sydney Water.
General manager Adam Oswald and business development manager Brett Rodwell said new opportunities for consistent work were good news for sustainable employment and job security for KJ's workforce and in providing training opportunities for youth.
KJ Industrial Scaffolding presently has more than 12 trainees and will continue to offer a steady number of new opportunities. The business has created more than 100 traineeships in its lifetime and the majority have stayed on with the company as full-time employees.
The new contract work will also create further opportunities for people with a disability. KJ has employed more than 15 people from Greenacres in its Port Kembla and Unanderra yards where up to four of them work together at any one time.
If you line up a few of these longer term arrangements than you have got consistency and stability for the business and everyone who works for us
- Adam Oswald
The business provides scaffolding for some residential construction work but most of its client base is industrial. It has serviced the mining and steel industry for many years and is welcoming the opportunity to grow and diversify.
"Our aim has been to secure more work that has a longer term and not just individual projects. They help provide employment.security and certainty. If you line up a few of these longer term arrangements than you have got consistency and stability for the business and everyone who works for us," Mr Oswald said.
He said it was also important to spread the work geographically and that is why he is hoping a Nowra Bypass and new Nowra Bridge over the Shoalhaven River proceeds so KJ can tender for more opportunities.
