Saturday will see the start of the Illawarra girls league tag and under six to under 12 mod league, with the under 13 to under 16 combined Illawarra-Group Seven competitions kicking off next Saturday.
Illawarra Rugby League's Luke Potter said registrations were up this season and all the clubs are looking forward to getting the season started.

"We've had a really good registration period," Potter said. "We're up on teams for both boys and girls, which we're a bit excited about. With all the dramas in the off-season, it hasn't had any effect with our numbers.
"We really focus on the fun and friends side of rugby league. We have a lot of kids enjoying league at the moment, they are able to get outside and play rugby league in a safe, fun environment and are making friends along the way."
