The ship was seriously damaged by fire while berthed alongside the BlueScope steelworks in June last year.
The damage was so extensive that owner CSL Shipping decided to retire it.
The plan was to send it to China to be recycled, but it will now be towed by an oceangoing tug to Turkey.
It is expected to leave at 3pm on Wednesday.
If there are any delays, the next available time the ship could leave the harbour would be 6pm on Wednesday.
