On the other side is the team that finished with the wooden spoon last season before rebounding to claim the 2019 minor premiership.
Both Lake Illawarra and Oak Flats are confident of claiming victory in this weekend's South Coast grand final.
Something has to give.
The two sides emerged as clear competition front-runners back in October and Lake Illawarra captain Mark Ulcigrai is expecting a tough, tight contest at Croome Cricket Oval.
"Both sides on paper are almost identical," Ulcigrai said. "It's going to be a tough match. Last week was great preparation for us, I thought we were excellent with the bat. We went in with a plan and it came off, which is what we'll have to do this week.
"We're hopeful we'll have two full days of cricket so we can see who deserves to be on top. We don't want weather to dampen a final."
For the Lakers, a win extends a remarkable stretch of dominance within the South Coast competition. After claiming all three trophies last season, the Lakers have already won this year's Twenty20 and one-day finals, both wins coming over Oak Flats.
No team has completed the back-to-back treble in the competition's history of playing Twenty20 finals and Ulcigrai said his side is determined to become the first to do so.
"It's never been done before, so to win six in a row would be huge for the club. We've got three out of our four teams in the final, it would be great for the club to bring all three home.
"For the first grade side, there's only half the side back that were involved last year, so it's good for those guys.
"The new guys have come up from second grade and have been able to replicate their form. I have faith in our young guys, they won second grade last year and had a taste of two-day finals last week."
For Oak Flats, a win completes a stunning turnaround, from wooden spooners to premiers in just one season.
The Rats are by no means underdogs, however, with the side claiming this year's minor premiership after completing an undefeated two-day season. A winning streak that included a confidence-boosting victory over the Lakers.
That win saw the Oak Flats batsmen set Lake Illawarra a big target before the bowlers successfully defended the total on day two. It's a blueprint McAndrew hopes to follow this weekend.
"We take a lot away from when we beat them in the two-day game," McAndrew said. "This is our best shot at knocking them over.
"The way they play white-ball cricket, they showed they're the kings of that, so this is our best chance of getting one over them.
"Hopefully we'll try bat first and get a big score. We're in a position by finishing on top, they've got to chase us. So by putting big runs on the board, we'll try build pressure when they're chasing that total."
