Entering their third season of Illawarra rugby, the Southern Crushers have expanded their junior program in 2019.
This year, the club, based in Albion Park, will field under sevens, under eights and under 13s teams, with the club particularly interested in adding more kids in the under sevens and eights age groups.
A lack of numbers has forced the Illawarra Rugby Union to cancel the combined under 16s and 17s first XV competition. Instead the association will enter Illawarra teams in the Sydney junior competitions.
An under 18s team has been finalised, while the under 16s competition will hopefully see two sides fielded, one based in Camden/Campbelltown and a second based in Wollongong. Organisers are still seeking players for the Wollongong team.
