The Oils have chosen to play intimate gigs in Thirroul and Canberra as their only headline Australian shows for 2019 (aside from The Big Bash festival in outback Queensland and the 1 Million Women LoveEarth Festival at Carriageworks).
They'll play at Anita's Theatre on Thursday May 23 with Illawarra support act Shining Bird; and Canberra's Royal Theatre on Monday May 27 with Leah Flanagan.
Pre-sale tickets for members of Midnight Oil's mailing list start at 2pm AEST on Tuesday April 9, and are expected to sell out quickly. General public tickets go on sale 10am AEST on Friday April 12.
Show organisers said strict anti-scalping measures will be in place.
While drummer Rob Hirst has confirmed rumours they'll be heading back into the studio.
"We've been talking about recording again for years but The Great Circle Tour in 2017 was such a positive experience that it made us even hungrier to get back to making new music together," Hurst said.
"It's a bit early to know what might come out of it yet - we're just looking forward to getting back into that creative mode."
It's not yet known whether new song would be previewed during their tour, but the band currently plans to head straight into the studio when they come off the road.
