Around 130 children from Aspect South Coast School and 300 friends and family visited Illawarra Sports Stadium at Berkeley on Friday for an annual walkathon that raised $30,000 for the school.

It was part of Autism Spectrum Australia's 'Walk for Autism' which encourages people to walk 10,000 steps per day for eight days to raise funds to support people on the autism spectrum.
Aspect South Coast School had a $25,000 goal for its annual walk but thanks to South Coast Party Hire staff who handed over $7300 they exceeded their target on Friday.
Nathan and Erin Johnston said their business also targets every month and in any month South Coast Party Hire exceeded it they made a donation to charity.
"The choice of charity is made by our 25 staff." Mrs Johnston said.
"This quarter was one of our best so far. The son of one of our staff attends Aspect South Coast School so it was a bit of a personal choice for her".
Principal Bruce Rowles estimated up to 500 people attended the walkathon.
"We were blown away when South Coast Party Hire rang and said they had $7300 for us," he said.
"It is fantastic to get it and it just shows how much the community cares.
"It has been a fantastic day.
"The kids have had a wonderful time.
"Because we keep going back to the same venue and it is run the same way it works really well".
Autism is a lifelong disability that affects an estimated one in 70 children. Children on the autism spectrum see, hear, feel and experience the world differently.
