The singer-songwriter and environmental activist was leading a beach cleanup with more than 50 people lending their hands, including his wife and two kids.
"Everybody's got a different part to play and you don't know where it's all going to lead, you just know it's headed in the right direction and that's all you can do," Grunwald said.
"You don't have to solve the whole problem, you just have to do a little bit towards solving a problem."
Paul Hellier, of Fair Food Forager, helped co-ordinate the clean up. He said the saddest thing was he was part of another clean up a month ago, yet the same kind of rubbish was being strewn around the popular fishing spot.
"A lot of bait bags, a lot of fishing line, hooks," Hellier said.
Grunwald will continue his concerts with beach cleans later in the year, including a clean up at Shellharbour.
