Shellharbour Starbucks to close

THE last frappuccino will be served at Shellharbour Starbucks today as staff at the American coffee chain were told the store would not be re-opening for business tomorrow.The Stocklands Shellharbour store is one of 61 Starbucks cafes that will close across Australia in the coming days, leaving 685 people out of work.The Shellharbour store employed 12 people who this morning were still coming to grips with their job loss, having been given just 24 hours notice.``I have no idea what I am going to do,'' said one female staff member who wished to remain nameless.Only 23 cafes in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne and their surrounding areas will remain open as part of the company's restructure to focus on capital cities and boost profits.The Shellharbour Starbucks opened in January 2006 and according to customers had become a crucial social networking place in the community.
