The free showcase is coming to the region for one week in May, and will be held in five locations including schools and cinemas.
For the first time this year two sessions will be held in conjunction with the Illawarra Schools Careers Expo, being held at the Illawarra Sports Stadium in Berkeley on Tuesday, May 7.
Over the course of two days the expo expects to see 5000 students and exhibitors, making it a premier careers event for the Illawarra region.
Showcase events will also be held at Bomaderry High School and Warrawong High School on May 7 and May 9 respectively, while Shellharbour Greater Union will host a showcase on May 8.
Students from Woonona High School, Five Islands Secondary College, Calderwood Christian School, Corpus Christie High School and Oak Flat High School will also participate, with organisers expecting over 1000 attendees at the events promoting vocational education and training pathways.
The showcase combines film, music and valuable career information, delivered in an innovative way through a one-hour presentation.
Students will learn first-hand from guest speakers about the opportunities that exist through vocational training, apprenticeships and traineeships.
NSW Training Awards winners and finalists from previous years, Chloe Herbert, Scott Clarke and Hayley Cahir, will speak at the Illawarra events.
Clarke from North Wollongong was named 2017 llawarra Apprentice of the Year. The TAFE NSW Alumni is now continuing his study journey with a Diploma of Project Management through OTEN.
"TAFE is definitely something that I look forward to. The training is industry relevant, by teachers who have been involved in engineering and who are still associated with the industry," he said.
Supported by the NSW Department of Industry and presented by SkillsOne, the showcase covers 10 vocational sectors from traditional trade areas such as building and construction, healthcare, animal care, beauty and hair to digital and IT.
NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro said "the Skills and Thrills show is all about exciting young people into careers - and the best way to do that is to actually SHOWCASE a diversity - by having genuine people talking about their life journey, their work journey".
"Hopefully those that come, walk away being inspired about an opportunity through Vocational Education," Mr Barilaro said.
