Representing the southern district, the school's winning display was made completely out of produce such as grains, seeds and vegetables.
For their efforts Lake Illawarra picked up $500 and a trophy much to the pleasure of agriculture teacher Michelle Atkinson.
"It's a great result. We've entered this competition three times and won the last two. We are ecstatic," she said.
Mrs Atkinson said students in year 9-10 had worked hard on the display for the past few months.
"It really has been a whole school effort," she said.
"But I must also credit eight students who went up to the show everyday for a week to ensure the display was just right.
"They did a great job."
