Australia will host France in the final after Ash Barty and Sam Stosur led the team to a semi-final victory over Belarus last weekend.
While conceding Wollongong is an outside chance of hosting the event, Sleigh said the region would be the perfect location when the Australian women attempt to win their first Fed Cup since 1974.
"We were extremely delighted with way the tie went last year and it would be fantastic to welcome the Fed Cup back to Wollongong," Sleigh said.
"We'd love to see the final back at WIN Entertainment Centre, it's a great size, the venue has a great atmosphere and the girls really enjoyed their time here in Wollongong last year.
"It is a matter for Tennis Australia, we'll look forward to a call, but we know a lot of other venues are also excited by the opportunity."
A Wollongong final would complete an 18-month journey that began at the WIN Entertainment Centre last April when Australia defeated the Netherlands to gain entry into the Fed Cup World Group.
That tie was well-received by all involved, with Australian captain Alicia Molik expressing her desire to return to the region.
"It's been great here in Wollongong," Molik said last year. "It served us really well, the crowd were really embracing of the tennis here and I'm sure we would all agree that we would love to come back some day."
With Australia's two biggest stars Barty and Stosur hailing from Queensland, Brisbane's Pat Rafter Arena has firmed as a leading contender to host the Fed Cup final.
The pair received rabid support in front of their home fans during last weekend's semi-final victory and it's likely Brisbane's tennis fans would turn out to support the pair in November's decider.
It is rare for the same venue to host two consecutive ties, however Tennis Queensland have confirmed their intention to bid for the final.
In a statement, Tennis Australia head of major events Cameron Pearson said multiple cities had expressed interest in hosting the final.

"Our Fed Cup team, led by Ash Barty and Sam Stosur, pulled off an historic win in Brisbane on the weekend and we are delighted to have the opportunity to host the Fed Cup final against France on home soil in November," Pearson said.
"The atmosphere in Brisbane was incredible, and a record crowd of almost 10,000 turned up to support the teams.
"We are running an 'expressions of interest' process to determine the host venue for the final, and we know there are already several cities interested in what will be a major international women's event.
"Our team will work through this process and we hope to make an announcement in the coming weeks."
