Collett piloted Sheriff to his maiden metropolitan victory on February 27 but hasn't partnered the son of Myboycharlie at either of his last two starts.
Damian Lane took the steer and set a hot tempo when Sheriff faded late to finish ninth in the Group 2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint (1200m) at his last start on day two of The Championships.
Luke Price confirmed the stable will have another crack at earning some black type in the Guineas before sending Sheriff for a spell.
The Price stable continued their consistent run of form last weekend, with a win at Kembla Grange and a double at Nowra on Sunday.
