In 2019, The Salvation Army is hosting its inaugural Red Shield Ride, a multi-day bike journey from Sydney to Melbourne.
The challenging 10-day ride will cover 1400km.
The route will take in some of Australia's most scenic countryside via the Illawarra, Canberra, the Snowy Mountains and the Baw Baw National Park in Victoria's High Country.
The Red Shield Ride will raise vital funds to support The Salvation Army's network of essential social and community services.
This includes providing shelter for the homeless, assisting families in crisis through practical support and financial counselling, and guiding people with addictions through to a clean, healthy lifestyle.
Day one of the trek on Monday (April 29) will feature the ride from Sydney to Kiama.
This section incorporates the Royal National Park and Seacliff Bridge.
After arriving in Kiama, the cyclists will attend a dinner at Kiama Leagues Club, where they will hear about local services that The Salvation Army run.
They will then stay in Kiama overnight before departing the next morning.
The goal of the ride is to raise $160,000 for The Red Shield Appeal.
Donations can be made here.
Meanwhile, the Wollongong Salvos will also be hosting the 'Recycled Hope Shopping Tour' on May 4.
All proceeds from this "Salvos stores tour with a difference" will go to The Salvation Army's Red Shield Appeal.
It will include store discounts, a fashion tutorial, gift bag, morning tea, lunch and more.
Registration costs apply. For more details or to register, visit 11-13 Burelli Street, Wollongong or click here.
