The Mercury can reveal MPs Stephen Jones and Sharon Bird has secured the funding as part of Labor's campaign promises, after a sustained push by Illawarra association officials.
It will result in a remodelling of the courts at Fred Finch Park to meet Netball Australia guidelines, as well as a lighting upgrade to allow more flexible training and playing times.
"The upgrade of courts and lighting to a suitable standard will mean that Fred Finch Park would be able to host state and national events," Jones wrote.
"As they are, the facilities do not comply with the current National Facilities Guidelines for run off from the end and between the courts. A petition calling for improvements to the facilities at Fred Finch Park received hundreds of signatures over a few short weeks.
"The players, coaches and supporters of Illawarra Netball want these upgrades and Labor is committed to delivering them."
Officials have been forced to leave banks of courts empty during playing time, because the spaces between existing courts no longer comply to safety regulations.
The funding will be officially announced on Friday.
With about 3000 players at junior and senior levels, the region has produced ex-Super Netball and now GWS Giants AFL Women's player Taylah Davies and emerging star Maddy Eaton.
Labor are $1.18 favourites to take power from the Coalition at the election.
