Although diverse in its membership, National Union of Workers (NUW) has always had one single goal: to be one of Australia's strongest unions.
For more than 100 years, NUW members have worked together to give each other the best chance of receiving a fair wage, decent conditions, safe workplaces and a secure future.
The history of the NUW, NSW Branch is progressive, diverse and successful, coming into being in September 1992.

Recently they have taken part in the Change in Rules campaign (the system is broken, big business has too much power and workers have too little to 'change the rules and the government'.
"I encourage members to attend the May Day rallies," a NUW NSW Branch spokesperson said. "There's a rally in Hyde Park North, Sydney from 11am-4pm on Sunday, May 5.
"Our industry-wide agreements ensure that wages and conditions lift the living standards of our members across the state.
"Our no-nonsense attitude, often labelled 'militant' by our detractors means that we are serious about the safety, wages and conditions of our people. We are willing to fight and ready to win.
"We believe that every worker has the right to fair dinkum representation. We do not believe any worker has got a better deal or a safer workplace by half-hearted advocacy. Success is measured by unity and that makes the union strong."
This union represents all full-time, casual and part-time workers in several industries ranging from warehousing, food and pharmaceutical manufacturing to milling, market research and sales representatives.
Being a member provides for better working conditions but also member benefits.
They can arrange face-to-face interpreting to discuss membership or any issues relating to your work as well as offering legal services, ambulance cover, journey insurance and much more.
