The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) is the union representing tens of thousands of higher education workers across Australia.
"Our union covers both professional and academic staff," associate professor Georgine Clarsen of UOW and branch president of NTEU said.
"If you work at a university, we're the union for you.
"At UOW, union members have just secured new rights for casual and contract staff to convert to secure jobs, and better conditions for casuals.
"We've won paid domestic violence leave and a two per cent pay rise for all staff.
"While we have some great new entitlements, there's still much to be done. Two in three staff at UOW still don't have secure jobs.

"The more who join the union, the more we can achieve. That's why your voice is important.
"Through negotiations, UOW management was hostile and reluctant to raise standards.
"It was only through the persistence and commitment of union members that we won improvements.
"At UOW, our union is growing. I believe staff working conditions are student learning conditions. By joining the NTEU, you are improving the university and benefiting our community.
