The state government has introduced new drink-driving laws that take effect on May 20.
After that date even first-time, lower-range offenders - those between 0.05 and 0.079 will end up saying goodbye to their licence for three months and cop a $561 fine.
Though first-time offenders will be able to appeal the decision in court.
"This means anyone caught drink-driving in NSW, at any level, including low-range, can now lose their licence immediately," Roads and Transport Minister Andrew Constance said.
"This reform makes it clear if you break the law, you will pay the price. We are taking a zero-tolerance approach to drink and drug driving."
Things will get tougher for drug drivers too, with first-timers getting a $561 fine and a three-month licence suspension if a lab analysis comes back positive.
"Drivers who have an illegal level of alcohol in their blood or have used illegal drugs have no place on the road," Mr Constance said.
