A Joint Regional Planning Panel has officially given the green light to develop the former Our Lady of the Sacred Heart school site in Bowral.

A motion was moved, with the panel saying the development was permissible and that issues that were brought up by speakers had been addressed by the developers or could be. It was approved with conditions and amendments in place.
Conditions and amendments in place include that the priest cottage be retained and that the design of the application plan would have to be rejigged to accommodate that. Other amendments include shared pathways and pedestrian islands to suit the conditions of the road.
Kevin Ryan, managing director of Waterbrook, said he was very pleased with the results.
"We can't wait to bring life in to the old site and build an amazing retirement resort that is very Bowral-centric," he said.
Council will be working with the applicant before they start.
The development, Waterbrook Bowral, is set to be be located on the corner of Centennial Road and Kirkham Road.
The plans show the retirement resort will comprise of 135 luxury villas, with an extensive range of onsite facilities including; 24/ 7 concierge, a wellness centre and spa, business centre, lounge spaces, restaurant, bar, ballroom/play theatre and library.
