Atanasoski took to Facebook to announce his decision to leave the club in the wake of United's 6-1 win over Fernhill Foxes last weekend.
United president Peter Vrtkovski confirmed assistants Oliver Vrtkovski and Aaron Kellaway would take over in the interim.
He said the club had no firm plan on a long term replacement, but insisted there was no ill will towards the outgoing Atanasoski.
"I can't say a bad word about him and we wish him all the best," Vrtkovski said.
"He has made a decision to pull the win after spending about four a half years with us, winning about three or four trophies in the lower grades."
Atanasocki was contacted by the Illawarra Mercury but declined to comment about his departure.
United are currently in sixth position on the IPL ladder, but are just four points off ladder leaders Wollongong Olympic after seven rounds.
Bulli are third and three points off the lead heading into their blockbuster clash at Balls Paddock on Saturday.
Elsewhere, Woonona Sharks host Corrimal Rangers, Fernhill Foxes face Olympic and Tarrawanna meet Coniston.
South Coast United host Albion Park White Eagles on Saturday evening while Cringila will look for their first win of the campaign against Port Kembla on Sunday afternoon.
