In November, a truck careered down the M1 Princes Motorway and along old Mt Ousley Road and ran into the car park at the restaurant.

It pushed cars out of the way and wedged a white SUV up against an apartment block behind McDonald's.

Roads and Maritime Services assessed the truck and found it had faulty rear brakes.

That body is carrying out an internal safety review of the area and a spokesman told the Mercury it would not be released to the public.

The review would only identify possible safety measures - government funding would need to be secured before any of them could be put into place.

For Mr Park that didn't matter; he felt the community was being "kept in the dark".

With the Mt Ousley interchange years away, he said it was "necessary that any safety measures are considered and adopted as interim measures".

"We are exceptionally lucky that no-one was seriously injured or killed in the last incident," Mr Park said.

"When the safety of the community is brought into question, surely they have a right to know the options available for improvement.

"What is the secret? Why not release the findings? The community has every right to know what results were found and if any safety measures can be introduced."

The Keira MP referred to a review into a Bulli Pass truck crash in March and wondered if that would be kept from the public as well.

"The government is hell bent on keeping everything under a cloak of darkness rather than being open and transparent," he said.
