A big weekend is in store at Darkes Forest this weekend when a local tourist attraction in Wollongong's north celebrates a major milestone birthday.

Darkes Forest Riding Ranch is turning 40 on the Federal Election weekend.
Owner Jules Read said it will be a two day celebration with entertainment and activities.
"We a having our 40th year anniversary this whole weekend," Ms Read said
"And on Sunday we have Melinda Schneider singing at 1.30pm".
Darkes Forest Riding Ranch is a family owned and operated horse riding ranch where trail rides and riding lessons are held seven days a week for people of all ages and all levels of experience and ability.
School holiday day camps and a not-for-profit "Horses for Special Needs" program known as the Star Club are among the many initiatives.
Ms Read is also known for rescuing horses that may otherwise have been destroyed and giving them a new life with a good home.
