Foord burst on the international scene when she was given the best young player of the tournament award at the 2011 World Cup in Germany.
She was part of the Matildas 2015 campaign, where they were knocked out in the quarter finals by Japan, before playing at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, Australia again bowing out in the last eight on penalties against Brazil.
The Matildas announcement comes three months after Foord played in Sydney FC's championship-winning W-League team, beating superstar Sam Kerr and Perth Glory 4-2 in the final.
Currently in the US playing with Portland Thorns, she also scored a hattrick for the Matildas in Australia's friendly game against Chile in November.
The Matildas have regrouped following the shock sacking of Alen Stajcic, replaced by former Socceroo Ante Milicic.
Mary Fowler, the 16-year-old emerging talent who spent time at Wollongong School of Performing Arts, was also included in the Matildas squad.
Matildas squad: Lydia Williams (GK), Gema Simon, Aivi Luik, Clare Polkinghorne, Laura Alleway, Chloe Logarzo, Steph Catley, Elise Kellond-Knight, Caitlin Foord, Emily Van Egmond, Lisa De Vanna, Teegan Micah (GK), Tameka Yallop, Alanna Kennedy, Emily Gielnik, Hayley Raso, Mary Fowler, Mackenzie Arnold, Katrina Gorry, Sam Kerr (c), Ellie Carpenter, Amy Harrison, Teigen Allen.
