Initial reports suggest a piece of timber has fallen from a crane on Bong Bong Street, striking the 50-year-old male on the head, according to NSW Ambulance Illawarra Inspector Norm Rees.
Emergency services were called around 10am.
The man is conscious and breathing, but taken by road to Wollongong Hospital.
