Across Grades 2-7 in Zone 16, 17 clubs have a team in this weekend's pennant semi-finals in a terrific endorsement for the depth of talent across all the zone.
Wiseman Park and Figgy Bowlo have three teams in the Zone 16 semis, while some of the smallest clubs including Berkeley (Grade 4), Collies-Orb (Grade 6), Jamberoo (Grade 6) and Scarborough
Wombarra (Grade 7) have their sights on a Zone 16 pennant flag and the chance to play at the State Finals.
In the elite Southern Conference, Warilla outplayed hosts Merimbula 71-42 (10-0) in the final round to clinch the Conference and Zone 16 double, plus qualify for the Grade 1 State Finals.
Warilla's Aaron Teys beat Ryan Bester 28-13, Gary Kelly defeated Jay Bruest 16-13 and Corey Wedlock posted a 27-16 win over Kevin Anderson.
Merimbula join Wiseman Park, Dapto Citizens and Figgy Bowlo in this weekend's round-robin playoffs with the winner also advancing to the State Finals.
In this Saturday morning's opening round-robin match, Dapto Citz take on Figgy and Merimbula face Wiseman Park.
Figgy booked its Playoff spot with a 57-48 (9-1) win over Towradgi. Figgy's Jarrod Beckford beat David Wakeling 22-14, while Bob Wilson defeated Anthony Jones 25-15.
In other final round games, Corrimal won two rinks against Albion Park but Corey Thompson's 26-17 victory over Col Cheadle proved enough for Albion Park to claim a 59-56 (8-2) win.
Meanwhile, Jim Tully and Barry Martin skipped their rinks to a win in Woonona's 59-53 (9-1) away victory over Kiama, while Oak Flats finished on a positive note with a 57-52 (9-1) win over Wiseman Park.
In this Saturday's (MAY 18) Grade 2 semi-finals at Thirroul BC, Warilla face Wiseman Park in the major semi-final and Windang meet Fairy Meadow in the elimination minor semi-final.
In Grades 2-7 the loser of the Major Semi faces the winner of the minor semi on Sunday in the preliminary finals at Warilla BC.
In Saturday's Grade 3 semi-finals at Fairy Meadow, Figgy take on Towradgi in the major semi and Woonona meet Dapto Citizens in the Minor Semi.
In Grade 4 at Oak Flats BC, it's Towradgi vs Warilla in the major emi and Thirroul vs Berkeley in the minor semi.
In Grade 5 at Windang; Wiseman Park meet Albion Park in the Major Semi, and Oak Flats face Figgy in the minor semi.
In Grade 6 at Dapto Citizens; Collies-Orb play Jamberoo in the Major Semi, with Figgy to meet Wiseman Park in the minor semi.
Finally in Grade 7 at Berkeley; Kiama and Corrimal meet for a grand final spot in the Major Semi, while Dapto Citizens take on Scarborough Wombarra in the knockout Minor Semi-Final.
