To be forced to extra-time with a last moment Adelaide equaliser.
To be forced to penalties after leading until the 115th minute, when Michael Marrone made it 3-all.
And then to fall behind in penalties, when Diego Castro, the two-goal Perth Glory hero, missed his spot kick and was beside himself at the thought it would put an end to our grand final hopes.
Yet we're still standing.
Here on the last day, just like we deserve to be.
It was a wild rollercoaster ride in the A-League semi-final, for me as much as anyone else, coming on in the 111th minute when we lead 3-2, then needing to convert my penalty in the shootout or face the likelihood we were out.
Thankfully, we've spent the week preparing for the big day and a chance to win the double, a Premiers Plate and championship trophy.
We're well aware of the threat Sydney FC pose on Sunday.
They sent a timely reminder with their 6-1 win over Melbourne Victory.
We had been keeping tabs on the score in Sunday's game, but even by half-time it was pretty clear it would be Sydney who would be flying over to meet us this week.
We beat them over here in January (3-1) and had several key players missing at Kogarah most recently (Sydney won 1-0), so there's confidence in the squad we can do the job. After being on top throughout the season and making it through our most difficult test against Adelaide when other teams would have folded under the pressure.
It's been a big week, with all the additional promotional and media commitments and the one question I keep getting asked is about my last game. To be honest, it doesn't feel like the end.
All I've been focussed on is what we need to do this week to perform on Sunday.
We had a great training session at Optus Stadium, the venue for the grand final to accommodate the bigger crowd, it will be an amazing atmosphere there at kick-off time.
We played Chelsea there in the pre-season, after just three weeks together and played really well then, so we're positive about returning even though it's not the Glory's regular home ground.
I've been to two grand finals before with the Wanderers and both times come away without the trophy.
But this time, everything is settled, without the travel, crowds against you, or the other difficulties of grand final week when you're not at home base. I've also been lucky enough to score some important goals against Sydney FC in the derby games for the Wanderers.
To do it once more and lift the trophy would be the perfect way to end my time in the A-League and reward everyone at Perth Glory who has made such a great season happen.
