With 42,445 pet owners in Shellharbour the new concept Petbarn in the former Bunnings site is designed to be a one-stop shop for all pet needs when it officially opens on Saturday.
Opening one day after the new Baby Bunting the innovative Petbarn store has dedicated areas such as a grooming salon where pet owners can book their pet in for nail clipping, bath and blow dry and hair cutting. There is also a DIY dog wash, live fish and a pet adoption centre.
Petbarn Shellharbour store manager Brendan Fisher said among the services the new first of its kind concept store store in NSW provides is cat adoption run in partnership with RSPCA Illawarra.
All cats are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, health checked, have had some level of training, and are socially adapted, making them family friendly.
The adoption fee set by the local charity is collected by Petbarn Shellharbour and 100 per cent is returned to the charity.
"We are passionate about pet adoption and believe that every pet deserves a loving home," Mr Fisher said.
"We are dedicated to finding our rescue pets their perfect match, which is why we are so proud to be launching our pet adoption service in Shellharbour".
This Saturday the new Petbarn is inviting pet parents and their four-legged friends to celebrate the official opening with a charity BBQ, petting zoo, 20% off sale, free DIY dog washes and Greencross Vets on hand to answer queries.
