The 69-year-old was airlifted to St George Hospital with critical injuries, but passed away overnight.
Police are continuing their inquiries into the incident. Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam vision are urged to contact police.
6.50pm: According to police, the male pedestrian is in a critical condition following a motor vehicle collision in Kiama.
A 69-year-old man was transported by helicopter to St George Hospital in a critical condition.
The 19-year-old female driver was taken to Shellharbour Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit have commenced inquiries into the cause of the incident.

A man has been flown to St George Hospital in a serious condition after being hit by a car in Kiama on Thursday afternoon.
Emergency services - including three NSW Ambulance crews and a rescue helicopter - have responded to the accident, which happened on Noorinan Street just before 4.30pm.
It is understood the car struck another vehicle after hitting the man outside the Kiama Bowling Club.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said a 70-year-old man had sustained a significant head injury.
Initial reports suggest the man had lost a large amount of blood from the head wound.
The rescue helicopter has just landed at the nearby Kiama Showground.
