After falling behind 1-nil in the 57th minute, the Wolves immediately hit back with three goals in the space of 10 minutes to blow the game wide open and take a 3-1 lead.
The three goals came in a chaotic 10 minute-period, with Marconi denied a chance to level the scores at 2-2 when Justin Pasfield saved a penalty.
Wilkshire was thrilled with the way his team bounced back from last week's loss to Rockdale.
"That performance speaks volumes for me of the character of this side," Wilkshire said.
"That response after last week, to go somewhere like Marconi, it's no easy place to play, they're big spenders in the league and they posed a physical presence. I was proud of the way the boys dealt with that, they were brave and in the end their quality shone through."
Japanese star Takeru Okada proved the difference between the two teams, with Okada scoring the Wolves first and third goals. Darcy Madden also found the back of the net.
The goals were Okada's first of the season and now that he's broken through, Wilkshire is looking forward to watching Okada leave his impact on the competition throughout the second half of the season.
"Takeru, that's the threat he possesses, he's had that all season without the reward with goals. Every week he's banging them in at training, to do it in a match is fantastic. That first goal was a release for him, a player with that quality, I'm sure he's got more in him."
